RAID: Shadow Legends glossary
RAID has a lot of its own vocabulary. Here are the terms used in our guide and in most community discussions, explained in plain English.

- Accuracy (ACC)
- A stat that increases the chance that your debuffs land. It is compared against the target’s Resistance.
- Affinity
- One of Magic, Force, Spirit or Void. Magic beats Spirit, Spirit beats Force, Force beats Magic; Void is neutral.
- Artifact
- A piece of gear: weapon, helmet, shield, gauntlets, chestplate or boots. Artifacts carry a main stat and substats.
- Accessory
- A ring, amulet or banner. Accessories unlock later than artifacts and add further stats.
- Ascension
- An upgrade that raises a champion’s stats. It uses potions from the Potion Keeps.
- Auto-battle
- Lets the game choose skills automatically. Used for most routine farming.
- Buff / debuff
- A temporary positive or negative effect, such as increased attack or poison.
- Champion
- A playable character. Each has a rarity, role, faction and affinity.
- Clan Boss
- A daily boss fought with limited keys. Damage dealt by clan members earns chest rewards.
- Cooldown
- The number of turns before a skill can be used again.
- Critical rate / critical damage
- The chance of a critical hit, and how much extra damage it deals.
- Energy
- The resource most modes use up. It refills over time and can be refilled with gems.
- Faction / alliance
- Champions belong to factions, and factions are grouped into four alliances. Faction Wars stages only allow one faction.
- Food
- Player slang for champions used as material to rank up other champions.
- Gems
- The premium currency, earned slowly in play or bought with real money.
- Masteries
- Skill trees that add passive bonuses to higher-ranked champions.
- Mercy
- A rule communicated by Plarium that raises summon odds after a long run without a high-rarity result. Check the current terms in-game.
- Rank
- A champion’s star level, from one to six. It caps the champion’s maximum level.
- Resistance (RES)
- A stat that increases the chance of resisting enemy debuffs.
- Shard
- An item opened to summon a random champion. Types include Mystery, Ancient, Void, Sacred and Primal, each with different odds.
- Silver
- The standard currency, used for upgrades and in the market.
- Skill tome
- An item that upgrades one of a champion’s skills.
- Speed (SPD)
- The stat that sets how fast a champion’s turn meter fills, and therefore how often it acts.
- Strong hit / weak hit
- Affinity-related hit outcomes. An advantaged attack can land a strong hit; a disadvantaged one can land a weak hit.
- Turn meter
- A bar that fills during battle. When it is full, the unit acts. Some skills fill or drain it.
